1-Am I suitable candidate for hair transplant surgery?
If you have noticed that you have a significant amount of hair loss then you may be a candidate for a hair transplant. Your age will also be taken into account. Someone aged 21 and under is not usually considered suitable for surgery. Both men and women are suitable for this procedure.
2-What can I expect from hair transplant surgery?
You will achieve natural looking hair which covers the bald areas as a result of hair loss.
The results are much better than in the past and patients notice that their transplanted hair looks and moves in the same way as their other hair. It is extremely difficult to tell between your ordinary hair and your transplanted hair.
If you have FUT or FUE then what happens is that the transplanted hair matches the hair in the donor site. It grows in exactly the same way and goes through the normal growth/loss cycle right into old age.

4- What are the hair transplant techniques?
Micrografting and mini grafting: This form of hair transplantation has replaced the traditional form of surgery in which large groups of follicles - known as 'plugs' were removed and then inserted into the recipient area. This will involve the surgeon punching holes in the scalp before inserting these plugs. A micrograft can consist of 1 , 2 hairs and a minigraft can consist 3,4 hairs.
FUT: Most popular and advanced technique with Fue. This is a type of hair transplant surgery in which a strip of follicular units is taken from the donor site, dissected and then placed in the recipient site.
FUE: This procedure involves the removal of follicular units, one by one, before inserting them into the recipient area. However it takes long time.
5- Will other people notice that I have had a hair transplant?
The traditional micro-,mini-grafting techniques and using thick punch cause a 'corn row' appearance with tufts of hair and noticeable scarring. The results are very natural looking and will not be notice from your remaining hair.
6-How should I prepare for my surgery?
Your surgeon will give you specific instructions on how to prepare for surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking and avoiding certain vitamins and medications. Carefully following these instructions will help your surgery go more smoothly.
7- How is surgery operated?
Hair replacement surgery is usually performed using a local anesthesia along with sedation to make you relaxed. On the skin anesthetized,there is no pain. Just before surgery, the "donor area" will be trimmed short so that the grafts can be easily accessed and removed. Small pieces of hair-bearing scalp grafts from a donor site and relocating them to a bald or thinning area. The donor area is sutured with stitches in Fut. But in FUE, the donor area is just covered with antibiotic ointment and a dressing. The individual follicular units (each containing from 1 to 4 hairs) are carefully dissected from the donor strip under microscop. It is possible to place 1000-1200 grafts in one operation which takes 3-4 hours. In FUT a thin scar will be occured in the back of your head for the removal of the strip. However, your hair will grow and cover the scars so they won't be seen.
8- Will I need more than one session?
This depends upon the amount of hair loss you have, the number size of grafts used,the density which the patient desires, charasteristics of patient. It also depends upon the type of procedure. If you opt for follicular unit extraction then this will mean several sessions to get the results you want. Some patients need more than one session to achieve their natural and good look.
9- What is the healing after hair transplant surgery?
You will be given instructions what to do after your surgery. Small scaps will formon the scalp at the graft area. These scabs disappear in 7-10 days.Washing can be resumed 2-3 days later. In a couple week, your hair will be loss after surgery which is a reaction to the surgery. This is perfectly normal and new hair will grow in 3. month as normal. An appointment will be made for suture to be removed one week after surgery. Products consist of anti bacterial cleansers and shampoos, they are generally used for the first two weeks and then back to your regular products.
10- Are there unexpected complications of hair transplantation?
There are risks of complications with this surgery as there is with any surgical operation. But these are not high rate which include infection, bleeding and poor hair growth.
